RURAL INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT > RDF Researches Rural Development Fund Researches and Approaches in Rural Institutional DevelopmentLevel of Ownership of Rural Advisory Service Network by Kyrgyz Farmers This practical research with the survey of 700 respondents in quantitative survey and qualitative study was conducted in 2006. It was aimed to review and assess level of ownership of farmers towards Rural Advisory Service (RAS) through their own perception. The Rural Development Fund (RDF) conducted extensive interviews with more then 600 people in 97 villages of all seven oblasts selected randomly. In addition the team reviewed various materials such as bylaws, program documents, reports, manuals, guidelines, and minutes of council meetings. The research was financially supported by Swiss Development Corporation.
Express Poll on Public Awareness on Avian Influenza in Kyrgyz Republic The major objectives of the rapid survey of 1100 respondents were: - to provide policy makers and major institutions involved in preventing and combating Avian Influenza with a general picture on public awareness of the phenomena; - to define which sources of information are most trusted and effective; - to identify which channels of information could be used for transferring information in pre pandemic and pandemic times. This research was prepared for the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyz Republic in 2006.
Baseline survey for Rural Water Supply and Saitation Project This research was conducted with the purpose to understand the situation in the provision of the rural population with the potable water, sanitary condition status and observance of hygienic regulations related to potable water consumption. The following survey components have been studied to identify a level of access of the rural population to potable water and to assess the hygiene and sanitary conditions: - Availability of service (sources of water; distance to sources; supply reliability); - Quality of service (water quality: definition of taste, presence of odor, microorganisms and so on); - Ability of the population to pay for water supply services, and willingness to pay for rual water supply service improvement; - Social inclusion of the poor and vulnerable groups of the population and equitable access to potable water for all strata of the population; - Hygiene and sanitation practices, i.e., use of soap in households and observance of hygienic measures with the object of diseases prevention related to poor-quality water and neglect of hygiene and sanitary practices.
