Akmatova Kuluipa participated in the international mining conference "Mountains of the future", held in Kunming, China, from the 1st to the 4th of March 2016.
She was member of the Delegation of the Mountain Partnership, alongside with the Central Asian Hub of Mountain Partnership, the staff of Institute of researches Institute (MSRI\UCA), Camp Alatoo in Kyrgyzstan and PF FSDA from the Altai Republic.
The conference was organized by the World Center of Agroforestry, ICRAF and Kunming Institute of Botany, with the goal of identifying best practices to reach successful and effective solutions. Several topics were on the conference agenda, such as: issues of climate change assessment, dynamic stability, involvement of marginal communities and management of water resources.
As we are living in an era of anthropogenic influences, with man being the dominant force of changes on the global level, the main focus was on discussing ideas and innovations for the most vulnerable mountain ecosystems of the planet.
The delegation of our region - Central Asia, whose performance took place during the first day of the conference, spoke about the unique experience of transition from Central management to practice management by communities.
Akmatova K. presented the following topic: "Joint forest management & revival and integration of the Kyrgyz traditional knowledge and practices for ecosystems resilience and of mountain communities’ livelihood improvement".
Together with other participants, the delegation of our region considered carefully questions about climate change assessment, dynamic stability, involvement of marginal communities and water resources management. Also, during the conference an exhibition of various mountain productions was held.
Researchers, scientists, experts and representatives of mountain communities from different corners of the world were conferees. All together they are shared ideas and innovative proposals that could promote positive shifts in mountainous regions management, and eventually protect environment worldwide.
